Eric Mounier

MSc | Chairman

Eric is the founder of Avignon Capital and operated in the role of CEO since inception until 2019, and now operates as the Chairman for the company.

He has over 30 years of experience within the investment arena, 26 of which have been as a principal and director. Fifteen of those years have been focused on commercial property in the UK and across Europe.

Eric was the co-founding Director of Appleton Asset Management in 1992, which was successfully listed in March 1999. He has been involved in the Cubic Property Fund since its inception and is on the Board of Directors. He is also Founder of Montreux Advisers, the appointed investment advisor to the Cubic Property Fund.

Eric graduated from the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1987 with a Masters in Science and a diploma in Business Entrepreneurship.

Patrick Flaton

Managing Partner

Patrick’s role as managing partner at Avignon Capital involves the day-to-day operations as well as developing strategic plans to create enterprise value.

Furthermore Patrick is responsible for the performance of the company including all financial matters.

Patrick has over 20 years of experience and has spent the past 14 years as an entrepreneur in different kinds of private equity businesses. He specialises in building company value and strategic growth in companies.
He has worked as a Managing Partner and CFOO for several private equity firms, two of which sold successfully and the other one sold via an IPO.

He has a strong focus on strategy but with the power to execute this from an operational level.

David Kirkby

Director of Capital Accounts

David joined Avignon Capital in 2018 as director and partner and has over 35 years experience in real estate. He was previously CEO of Cromwell and Valad Europe, responsible for leading the business, including partaking in the real estate investment committee.

Prior to joining Valad, David was CEO of the European funds management division of the Lend Lease Group. His previous roles include CEO of Lend Lease’s funds and development businesses in Asia and Head of Wholesale Funds. David has multi-sector experience including office, shopping mall investment, development and industrial.

David is qualified in valuation and land economics from the University of Technology, Sydney. He holds management qualifications from Mount Eliza Business School and London Business School.

Doug Burton-Cantley

BSc (Hons) | Director of Debt, Equity and Transactions

Doug joined Avignon in 2010.

Doug has 18 years of experience within the commercial property environment. He has strong knowledge across all sectors and aspects of the property cycle. He has a particular focus on value enhancement and financing. Doug is responsible for all UK and European asset management activities within the Avignon portfolios and leads debt origination and refinancing activities.

Prior to joining the Avignon team in 2010, Doug was Fund Manager at Mirvac Plc, for over 11 years and was responsible for the City Opportunities Fund, a £175m joint venture with HSBC Specialist Investments.

Doug graduated from Portsmouth University in 1997 with a degree in Land and Estate Management.

Phil Walker

BSc (Hons) MRICS | Head of Investment Management

Phil runs the investment team who are responsible for sourcing, underwriting and executing UK and European investment opportunities. Since joining Avignon Capital, Phil and the team have completed over 40 transactions across a variety of sectors, geographies and risk profiles.

Prior to joining Avignon, Phil worked for Savills Investment Management where he was part of the Fund Team that launched and grew a Core Plus / Value Add Fund to in excess of £375m over 18 months. Before this, Phil was employed at Montagu Evans LLP where he gained experience in a variety of advisory disciplines.

Phil has worked across all major sectors in property on both the consulting and client sides. He has experience of institutional fund management and adding value through active asset management.

Phil graduated from Reading University in 2010 with a first class degree in Investment & Finance in Real Estate.

Sam Salloway

BSc (Hons) MRICS | Portfolio Manager

Sam is responsible for Avignon’s capital raising, fund structuring and the implementation of investment strategies in the UK and Europe.

To date, he has had direct involvement in closing over €1.01 billion of transactions in the UK, Germany, France, Poland and the Netherlands across core, core-plus and value-add strategies. He has also been involved in running a pan-European property portfolio valued in excess of €1.20 billion for a ‘top 10’ Global Pension Fund.

Prior to joining Avignon Capital, Sam was an Investment Manager at Savills Investment Management, where he was a key member of the Strategic Partnerships Department, which focused on the implementation of investment mandates for the firm’s overseas investors.

Sam graduated from the University of Reading with a BSc in Real Estate and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors after qualifying through Savills’ Graduate Programme with spells in City Investment and Portfolio Valuation.

Laura Rinaldi

BA (Hons) | Marketing and Communications Manager

As Marketing and Communications Manager at Avignon Capital, Laura is responsible for the overall marketing and communications strategy; managing the entire cycle from strategic planning to execution.

Laura has strong experience in the media and creative industries before moving into the real estate sector in 2012. Prior to joining Avignon she worked for commercial property developer TCN UK for over four years as Marketing Manager.

She has a passion for creative buildings, workspace trends and brand identity.

Laura graduated from the University of Greenwich in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Media, Culture and Communications.

Lauren Newman

BA (Hons) | Executive Assistant

Lauren joined Avignon Capital in 2016, initially as a team assistant. Her role now involves supporting both the managing partners, along with overseeing the office management. She also administers the accounts, procurement and organises client & staff events.

Prior to joining Avignon, Lauren worked in other executive and team support roles in Sydney and Melbourne.

Lauren graduated from The University of Sheffield in 2012 with a Bachelors of Arts in History and Sociology,

Jack Pearce

BSc (Hons) | Investment Analyst

Jack joined Avignon Capital in 2016 to focus on sourcing, underwriting and executing UK and European investment opportunities. Since joining Avignon, Jack and the team have completed several transactions across different sectors and geographies.

Jack graduated from the University of Reading in 2017 with a degree in Investment & Finance in Real Estate.

Bianca Tristao

MSc MRICS | Investment Manager

Bianca joined Avignon Capital in 2017 to focus on sourcing, underwriting and executing UK and European investment opportunities. Since joining Avignon, Bianca and the team have completed several transactions across different sectors and geographies.

Prior to joining Avignon, Bianca worked at Knight Frank in the Hotels team where she worked on consultancy assignments and valuations within the UK and European hotel sector. As a graduate she also gained experience in transactional disciplines including Central London Office Agency and European Investment.

Bianca graduated from Cass Business School in 2014 with a MSc in Real Estate and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Alessandro Iovino

BSocSc | Asset Manager

Alessandro joined Avignon Capital in 2018 as an Asset Manager and is responsible for the management of the UK portfolio of assets.

Prior to joining Avignon Alessandro worked at Kuper Legh Property Group as a portfolio manager where he was responsible for the management of a private portfolio as well as the Texton Property Fund with property assets in the retail, office and industrial sectors.

Alessandro graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Political Science and Economic History and completed a Certificate for the Commercial Property Practitioner from the University of Pretoria.

Abigail Smith

BA Hons | Office Assistant

Abigail joined Avignon Capital in 2018 as an office assistant. Her role involves managing and maintaining the office, organising events, diary management, arranging travel and general assistance to the team.

Prior to joining Avignon, Abigail worked in another team support role for BDS Sponsorship, a leading sponsorship consultancy.

Abigail graduated from Plymouth University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography.

Colin Moore

Tax Consultant (CIOT & Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners)

Colin has been consulting for Avignon for over 5 years.

At Avignon Colin is responsible for providing the team with sophisticated tax and structuring advice across the different jurisdictions the company has exposure to. His advice always takes into account the circumstance of the specific client.

Colin has over 30 years’ experience in the tax profession and advises international investors about their wealth structuring requirements.

Our clients benefit from Colin’s extensive network of professional contacts to ensure that any property acquisition are structured effectively on a local and an international basis.

Jacco van Pelt

MRICS | Asset Manager

Based in the Netherlands, Jacco is responsible for the asset management of the Dutch portfolio as well as sourcing new real estate investment opportunities across the Netherlands.

Prior to joining Avignon Capital, he worked for Mayfield Asset and Property Management NL as Commercial Director, where he was responsible for the growth of the business and the management of a 400,000 sqm portfolio.

Jacco has over 20 years of experience in the real estate market having previously worked as a senior asset manager and has over 10 years experience in the real estate finance business with previous roles at WUH Mortgage Bank and Bouwfonds Property Finance.

Jacco is a professional member of the Royal Institute of chartered Surveyors (MRICS)

 

Elmar Schilling

MRICS | Asset Manager

Elmar is an asset management consultant at Avignon Capital and brings over 30 years of experience, 15 of those years working for UK and US property investors across Germany.

He has strong asset and property management experience and works with the Avignon team on the German portfolio.

Elmar also has transactional experience and has worked for international industry groups on their corporate property affairs from renegotiating leases, disposing of non-core assets and property sale and leaseback transactions.

Prior to working in real estate, Elmar worked in management consulting, M&A and transaction services with subsidiaries of Deutsche Bank and HVB/Uni Credit.

Elmar graduated from University of Mannheim in 1984 with a degree in economics and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

 

Lydia Sabin

BA Hons | Marketing Assistant

Lydia joined Avignon Capital in 2019 as a marketing assistant to ensure the smooth running of campaigns. Lydia is responsible for creating on brand marketing collateral to share on Avignon’s social channels and monitoring campaign reach. Lydia specialised in design and worked in the third sector managing visuals for nationwide campaigns.    

Lydia Graduated from UAL London College of Communication in 2017 with a BA Hons in Illustration and Visual Media.

 

Gavin Comer

BA ACCA | Financial Manager

Gavin is an ACCA qualified accountant with over five years experience working in real estate asset management.

He has strong financial reporting and financial analysis skills and oversees the company’s finances, including reporting and consolidations. He is also responsible for financial reports for the portfolios Avignon Capital manages on behalf of clients.

Prior to joining Avignon, Gavin worked at Crosslane Fund Managers as Group Fund Accountant where he was responsible for the accounting of a Student Accommodation European Fund.

Gavin graduated from The Manchester Metropolitan University with a first-class BA in Accounting and Finance and is a member of the ACCA.

 

Stephanie Legh

BSc | Asset Manager

Stephanie joined Avignon Capital in 2019 as an Asset Manager.

Prior to joining Avignon Stephanie worked at Texton Property Fund as an Asset Manager where she was responsible for their United Kingdom portfolio. Their portfolio was made up of assets across the office, retail and industrial sectors.

Stephanie graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Property Studies, Honours.

 

Erwin Hebels

Managing Director - Netherlands

Erwin is responsible for Avignon Capital’s Dutch office and manages the day-to-day operations, real estate sourcing and asset management in the Netherlands. From the office in Rotterdam, Erwin ensures further growth and expansion of Avignon’s real estate network in the Netherlands.

Over the past 18 years, Erwin has established property management companies with national coverage and has a broad network with 4 offices across the Netherlands.

Erwin has worked with various clients across numerous transactions as well as consulting on portfolio optimisation. His wide experience gained over the past two decades has enabled him to execute strategic, operational and tactical frameworks.

Erwin graduated from Tilburg University with a degree in structural business administration and continued his studies at the Technical University in Eindhoven.  He is a visiting lecturer at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

Erwin has a strong focus on customer loyalty, trust and personal attention.

 

Floris Ledder

Director - Netherlands

Floris’s role as director is to manage Avignon Capital’s Dutch office and he leads the business development for Avignon in the Netherlands. He is also responsible for sourcing investment opportunities across the Netherlands and the development of asset management operations.

He has over 12 years of multi-sector experience and has spent the past 5 years working as an interim manager for various investment and real estate companies. He specialises in organisation change and development to facilitate growth and improvement of performance.

Floris’s knowledge and experience of the real estate sector and Dutch market will enable Avignon to further expand in the Netherlands.

Floris graduated from the University of Utrecht in 2007 with a degree in economics and geography. He is a visiting lecturer at the Amsterdam School of Real Estate.
